How Liberty drums make their shells

Everything begins with the selection of the finest timber to make your shell.

Next, the timber is measured and precisely cut in readiness to be placed in the mould. Each ply section is coated with a special glue component and carefully manipulated into place within the mould. We don’t use any heat methods during the bonding process but leave the natural drying process to take its course. This method helps preserve the acoustic qualities of the shell.

After 2 days drying, your drums are extracted from the moulds and cut to the desired shell depth. The edges are carefully sanded down and bearing edges precisely cut.

finishes
There can be many finishes that can be applied such as our interior/ exterior veneers, lacquer, wax or wraps which are all carefully applied and completed to the highest standard by our seasoned craftsmen at our factory in Shildon, County Durham.

hardware & assembly
Hand-fitted-components
Your drum is now ready for the drilling stage with each fixing point precisely marked and drilled by hand.
Now your drums are ready for assembling with hardware, and heads. At this stage we add the lugs, floating system, heads, and the final touch with our Liberty badge.

Once assembled, your drums are carefully packed, and are finally ready to be shipped to you.
The most important thing is that each step of the production stage your drums go through a quality control process in fine detail to ensure the finished product is exactly how you want it.

Your smile
The best part for us is the satisfaction when you receive and experience your drums and see the smile on your face.
