11 Piece Drum Kit with 32″ Bass Drum

December 4th, 2009

Ludovic shells lacquered.jpgA whopper order but here they are. An eleven piece drum set colour lacquered by Liberty Drums for a special client in France. It has one of the biggest bass drums i’ve ever worked with, A WHOPPING 32″! Man, I could live in that.

Beautifully finished in a blue fade Lacquer it looks stunning with those two octobans by its side.

One happy customer from our latest spray shop.
Liberty Drums now has a purpose built state of the art colouring facility with some exciting projects coming up.

Ok, its been a while since my last post so in order to keep you up to date I will update pics and descriptions of what we’re up to.

Maple shells with pink sparkle wrap.

Currently working on some Birch shells with a Custom Pink sparkle finish. We have had the metal flakes tinted to our spec. The camera seems to capture reflected colours but looks fantastic in the flesh.

UK National Drum Fair a Success

October 2nd, 2008

A big thankyou to all that were at the show this year. There were spectaular clinics on such as George Barnett young drummer of the year and Gail Louise James.

Both showed great groove and sticking skills. An inspiration to all drummers that were there.
There were many stalls displaying some great vintage drums and new custom drums, it was like an aladdins cave in there.

A big shout out to Preston of Tikki Drums who displayed some great snare drums and continue to build some exciting snares in the UK.

I like to say a big thankyou to all who made us welcome and look forward to next years show.

Here are few snaps from our stand.

Solid wood shells

 Cherrywood Snare drum

Completely manufactured in the Northest of England, this 14″x 5.5″ Cherrywood snare drum is the prototype of many to come.

The demand and general concensus for Stave shells are high on my agenda as is with most of the gifted drum builders out there. This shell is made in Cherrywood 13mm, 45 degrees internal bearing edge & 45 degrees outer.

I have been putting this shell through its paces recently and am very impressed with the snappy punch it delivers with a central strike where as a rim shot delivers a clean crack. The resonance of the shell is typical of a Stave shell due to the solid 13mm and is quick.
The force is strong with this one :-) , tunes well, low or high depending on your preference so with this in mind I would like to try one different out edges such as a roundoff.
